Kumiko Class 7/1
I’ll be teaching another intro kumiko class this summer at Mokuchi studio in Brooklyn.
The class will include a demonstration of the process for making kumiko strips using hand planes and instruction for how to make the asa-no-ha pattern. Everyone will make their own asa-no-ha pattern, and will learn how the process can be applied to other kumiko patterns as well.
Everyone will be provided kumiko strips and jigs to use. If you are interested in joining please sign up 製作の過程は、ブログ(英語)でも紹介しています。.
Very interesting work, I am 79 year old furniture maker in Sydney Australia, resently discovered Kumiko, wish I had started using Japanese tools years ago. At present making 2 screens about 1050x 600, using New Guinea Rosewood, Kumiko made with Paulownia timber, I think Alaskan cedar would be better, these screens are being used in a larger carved frame as a room divider. Keep up this beautiful work
