Solid oak desk built with glue-less traditional Japanese joinery throughout. The name of the desk comes from the Japanese name for the joints that connect the legs and horizontal stretchers, sage kama joints, or wedged half-dovetail joints. These joints which have been used for centuries on traditional structures in Japan, are incredibly solid yet require no glue, allowing for the possiblity of deconstruction for repair or moving. The solid quartersawn oak desktop is reinforced with segmented sliding dovetail battens which keep the top flat while allowing for expansion and contraction throughout the seasons.
